Posted by: casino at January 30, 2004 08:22 AMHey, check it out Tom, your first piece of blog spam. Aren't you proud?
Posted by: JFu at January 30, 2004 10:16 AMUnfortunately, MT-Blacklist* doesn't play nice with mod_perl yet, and James Seng's captcha plugin** (a) hurts accesibility, (b) requires hacking MT::App::Comment, and (c) requires GD.pm to be installed (is it?).

Posted by: Tom at January 30, 2004 02:40 PMHoly crap, I've never seen comment spam before. I thought it was a joke at first.
Posted by: Katie at January 30, 2004 03:15 PMComment spam? wtf? would this be due to everyone using the blogging engines with stanard form interfaces?
I didn't know sperm whales really looked like that. I figured it was exaggerated in cartoons.
Posted by: Eric at January 30, 2004 09:49 PMholy crap, they spam-commented on *all* the posts.
Posted by: Eric at January 30, 2004 09:52 PMYeah, comment spam sucks, and it's not ever to generate clicks. Spammers use it just to climb in the search rankings. Once Joel gets back and I can get MT-Blacklist working, it has a feature to search-and-delete which I will use to take all the casino spam off in one very fell swoop.
MT is particularly vunlerable because it allows for anonymous posting out of the box. There's an arms race going on, which we bloggers are winning only slightly right now.
Spam sucks.
