I'm laughing at that whole camera-strap incident.
Besides, I hardly ever pumped water like this. Previously, I would walk down to the stream or spring and pump it straight out of the source. Later, after I sent my filter home in the mad rush to save weight, I just strained water with a bandana and treated it with chlorine.
